Here are links and short descriptions for the leading pediatric certification (aka "card") courses. If you find it difficult to locate locally offered classes, check with your local hospital, EMS Coordinator or search online for organizations offering these courses in NH.

Content: The core course focused on pediatric resuscitation. All advanced providers who work with kids should maintain their certification in PALS.

Content: PEARS teaches providers how to recognize respiratory distress, shock and cardiac arrest, and provide appropriate lifesaving interventions. PEARS is for emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children.

Content: PEPP offers prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. It is designed to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children. It features case-based lectures, live-action video, hands-on skills stations, and small group scenarios. PEPP offers BLS (EMR and EMT) and ALS (AEMT and Paramedic) versions of its course.

Content: EPC is a comprehensive education program for EMS practitioners on the care of sick and injured children, addressing a full spectrum of emergency illnesses, injuries and scenarios that an EMS practitioner might encounter.

NAEMT Course Finder

Audience: Physicians, EMS providers, nurses, and other health care professionals who perform neonatal resuscitation.

Content: The NRP Provider Course introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. It is designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation, including physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, licensed midwives, respiratory care practitioners, and other health care professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.

It's difficult to locate an NRP course in New Hampshire. Check with your local hospital or EMS Coordinator or search online.
